Farmers Encouraged To Attend Biodiesel Meetings
And Learn More About Investment Opportunity

MSA Hosting Statewide Informational Meetings on Behalf of Biofuels, LLC

For Immediate Release – June 14, 2005

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Plans are underway for construction of Missouri’s first major biodiesel processing plant, which will be located in Mexico, Mo. Mid-America Biofuels, LLC, (MAB) is a joint venture of Biofuels, LLC; MFA Oil Company; Ray-Carroll County Grain Growers and Archer Daniels Midland.

Beginning June 17, John Kleiboeker, Missouri Soybean Association (MSA) director of field services, will be traveling across the state to further educate farmers about the opportunity to invest in Biofuels, LLC. The statewide meetings hosted by MSA are part of a fundraising effort by Biofuels, LLC. Kleiboeker will travel to Brunswick, Chillicothe, Hannibal, Higginsville, Lamar, Macon, Mexico, Norborne, Portageville and St. Joseph, where interested parties can hear his presentation and pick up a prospectus.

“This is a chance for Missouri farmers to take ownership in the production of biodiesel,” Kleiboeker says. “I encourage producers to attend a meeting near them to learn more about this exciting venture. The biodiesel industry is growing rapidly and this is an excellent opportunity to invest in its future.”

MSA has been instrumental in assisting Biofuels, LLC, with feasibility studies, business planning and supporting the farmer board with organizing and issuing its secondary equity offering.

“Missouri farmers were the first to make investments in the biodiesel industry, contributing their checkoff dollars to research more than a decade ago,” says Dale R. Ludwig, executive director/CEO of MSA. “They view biodiesel as the most promising soy product to date and have spent a lot of time building interest in the fuel. MAB’s decision to build this plant will have a tremendous impact on the state’s economy, and it confirms our dedication to expanding the biodiesel industry.”

Biodiesel, produced from renewable fats and oils such as soybean oil, works in any diesel engine with few or no modifications. It helps reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign oil because it is produced from the oil of domestically-grown soybeans. Biodiesel offers enhanced lubricity and cetane, plus similar horsepower and torque when compared to petroleum diesel. Biodiesel is a non-toxic, biodegradable, renewable fuel that can be used in its pure form (B100) or blended with petroleum diesel at any percentage level.

Many major commercial fleets in Missouri use biodiesel, including the City of Mexico, Audrain County, City of Columbia, Fort Leonard Wood, Whiteman Air Force Base and the Missouri Departments of Agriculture, Transportation, Energy and others. Nationally, more than 400 retail filling stations make various biodiesel blends available to the public; and more than 1,000 petroleum distributors carry biodiesel and biodiesel blends.
