BLUNT PROPELS FFA LEADERSHIP FUND

State Fair Grand Champion Steaks Kickoff FFA Endowment

HERMANN, MO – On the eve of National FFA Convention week, Missouri FFA members got an extra lift with the formation of the FFA Leadership Fund, propelled by the donation of State Fair Grand Champion steaks by the Matt Blunt for Governor Campaign. FFA supporters toured the fall foliage on the Missouri River, and pledged resources to help improve opportunities for Missouri FFA members.

“What a monumental occasion for Missouri’s youth and to improve leadership training for FFA members!” exclaimed Dale R. Ludwig, executive director/CEO of Missouri Soybean Association and member of the FFA Leadership Fund founder’s committee. “We’re providing resources for enhanced development and long-term achievement of Missouri FFA members.”

Supporters enjoyed a casual Sunday afternoon in historic Hermann, reconnecting with friends in agriculture and dining on steaks from the 2004 Missouri State Fair Grand Champion Steer. Attendees were grateful for the donation provided by Matt Blunt, who has proven his support of youth in agriculture and rural Missouri.

“It’s fantastic to see that leaders in agriculture and government, like Matt Blunt, are committed to the future of FFA,” said Amanda Stemme, FFA advisor and agricultural education teacher from Eugene, Mo. “Especially as we’re traveling to national convention this week and encouraging members to succeed—this fund will provide the extra resources to help more of them fulfill their dreams.”

The FFA Leadership Fund plans to launch Missouri FFA members to the next level of leadership development. The focus of the fund is to reach additional members at the 301 FFA chapters across the state, improve training for Missouri’s national FFA participants, and enhance global agricultural experiences for Missouri’s FFA leaders.

“Youth leadership development is vital for the future of the agricultural industry,” said Blunt. “Supporting this event and the creation of the FFA Leadership Fund is critical to improving leadership development among Missouri’s youth.”

The endeavor to establish the FFA Leadership Fund just began, and FFA supporters have a chance to participate on the ground level as founding members. Individual contributors can earn bronze, silver, gold or platinum status by making five-year commitments to give a total of $500, $1,000, $2,500 or more respectively.
