GOVERNOR'S CONFERENCE ON AGRICULTURE RAISES Missouri Department of Agriculture “We are pleased that the auction brought funding to each of the leadership programs,” said Fred Ferrell, director of MDA. “The future of agriculture belongs in the hands of each one of these groups and through partnerships like the auction; they can continue to carry on Missouri’s agricultural tradition.” The auctions were held during the Taste of AgriMissouri dinner at the Governor’s Conference where more than 620 producers, farmers and agricultural industry leaders gathered. The highest bidding item was the Missouri State Fair Grand Champion cured ham donated by Murphy Enterprises, Inc. and purchased for $1800 by Orschlen’s in Moberly. The Missouri Soybean Programs assisted with the live and silent auctions. Dale R. Ludwig, executive director/CEO of Missouri Soybean Programs said, “We have the greatest leadership programs in the world with 4-H, FFA, AFA and ALOT. Anything we can do to provide additional funding helps build a better future for agriculture.” The Missouri Governor’s Conference on Agriculture was held Dec. 10-11 and is hosted by Gov. Matt Blunt, MDA and sponsored by Missouri agribusinesses and commodity organizations. For more information regarding MDA, visit www.mda.mo.gov.
