Ludwig Receives Agribusiness Leader of the Year Award FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (April 12, 2007) – The National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) presented its 2007 Agribusiness Leader of the Year award to Dale R. Ludwig, executive director/CEO of the Missouri Soybean Association and the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council. The award, which is NAMA's highest honor, was presented at the 2007 Agri-Marketing Conference in Dallas, Texas. The award recognizes outstanding leaders in agribusiness, education, government service or other agribusiness related areas who exemplify excellence in agribusiness by their significant contributions to the industry. Ludwig has the distinct honor of being the first-ever recipient of the award to represent a state commodity organization. NAMA officials hailed Ludwig as a visionary leader with a proven record of building coalitions to improve Missouri agriculture. Ludwig’s accomplishments include forging producer/agribusiness relationships to position Missouri as a leader in biodiesel production, helping re-position U.S. soybeans with advantages over global competitors and pioneering efforts to identify new traits in soybeans through biotechnology. “ We are fortunate to have such an outstanding individual leading the way for Missouri soybean farmers,” said Greg Sharpe, president of the Missouri Soybean Association. “Dale Ludwig’s relentless support has moved not only the soybean industry, but also Missouri agriculture forward. There is no bigger award in all of agriculture, and Dale is rightly deserving of this honor.” Ludwig was instrumental in assisting agricultural producers raise $100 million to finance 10 value-added, new-generation businesses, ranging from biodiesel joint ventures to functional food companies. He is also a known and trusted individual among the Missouri congressional delegation, where he helped convince Congress to pass the biodiesel tax credit, a federal incentive driving the current growth of the biodiesel industry. “ I am completely honored and humbled to receive the Agribusiness Leader of the Year award,” said Ludwig. “I am especially appreciative of the organization’s farmer-leaders and members, my staff, and all of our other partners who have provided me the opportunity and support to make these projects happen.” # # #
