Soy Ingredient Facility To Locate in Hermann FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 15, 2007 HERMANN, Mo. — Nestled in the heart of Missouri wine country, the city of Hermann has long been known for its vineyards and award-winning wineries. Soon it may be known for producing something completely different: state-of-the-art specialty soy ingredients. The board of directors of a farmer-owned new generation business, 1Soy Inc., has announced they intend to build a $6 million facility in the Hermann Industrial Park. According to Kelly Forck, chairman of the 1Soy board of directors, the site selection committee chose Hermann based on its easy access to Interstate 70 and an incentive package offered by the city. “Our feasibility study indicated we needed to be located between St. Louis and Columbia on the I-70 corridor,” Forck said. “The competition between communities in the surrounding area was fierce. Ultimately, we chose Hermann not only because it meets our basic needs, but it was extremely aggressive in offering assistance with our efforts.” Construction of the new facility, which will be called Revolutionary Ingredient Technologies or RevingTech, is expected to begin in the next few months. The facility will employ more than 30 workers and process Missouri-grown, identity-preserved food-grade soybeans into Functional Soy Protein (FSP) ™ for the domestic and international food industry. Functional Soy Protein can enhance normal foods by making them functional foods, or in other words, adding additional benefits beyond basic nutrition. “Hermann has a strong reputation in agriculture because of its wine industry,” Forck said. “We are excited about the opportunity to add high-tech soy ingredients to that long-standing tradition and to build on Hermann’s agricultural success.” 1Soy Inc., is a new generation business founded in 2005. It is owned by more than 200 farmer-members who formed the company to fill a niche in the soy ingredient business. ###
