U.S. Effort

The soybean checkoff researches, partners and educates to prepare to meet the ever-increasing world demand for soy.

  • Goal. Produce U.S. soybeans more efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner that meets the needs and desires of end users.
  • • Effective. Checkoff-funded efforts like the Better Bean Initiative (BBI) are effectively improving the market for U.S. soybeans. This research initiative is building a better bean - and better profit potential - through improved composition to combat competition from other soybean-producing countries and retain or increase market share against competitive sources of protein and oil.
  • • Efficient. The soybean checkoff is working to efficiently coordinate industry research and partnerships through programs like Ag 20/20, which works with NASA to provide satellite images of fields for analysis and recommendation.
  • • Farmer-Driven. Soybean checkoff farmer-leaders are directing the effort to make sure dollars are invested where they will matter most. The checkoff has focused research investments on soybean cyst nematode, compositional improvements, genetic diversity and drought tolerance, all of which are key to increasing profit potential in the field for U.S. soybean farmers.
